The side hustle.
These few words are being thrown around with passion.
Wherever you go on the internet, everyone and their dog and cat is talking about it.
And not only talking about it. They are trying to lure you into their courses, their communities.
And there is nothing wrong with that per se.
But…
The problem arises when the courses and everything around them are based on fakery, on lies.
I see so many unfortunate people falling for the glitter that is sprinkled in front of them, just to fall flat on their faces with courses gathering nothing but dust.
What the side hustle “cultivators” are not exposing to you is that all of them are actually running businesses, not side hustles.
Most of the creators don’t want you to realise that creating a meaningful income requires effort and time to put into it, and it may not become financially viable for a long time.
Yes, I have fallen into this myself (just like many others before me and many more to come after me), before waking up to the facts of the whole side hustle “dream”.
The truth is this: everybody is in it for the money. Nobody would do a side hustle or a business if money were not on the table.
And when the money starts coming in, that’s when the courses appear, and they begin to expand their businesses. That’s when they offer help or create some freely available content.
Nevertheless, it can be a vicious circle to get caught up in.
For some people, it may take years before they even notice they’ve been led astray.
If your goal is to live free from a boss and to create a financial heaven for yourself and your family, you’ll have to decide what kind of price you are willing to pay.
And believe me, everything comes at a price.
A side hustle will not pay for your bills long-term, but a well-researched and planned business could do that for you.
Stop getting distracted from the work you need to put in, stop the self-sabotage.
Running a successful business requires you to lay down the foundations and create systems, find or create the right products, learn or upgrade your skills, do promotion, content, sales and marketing. I mean, I can go on and on and on.
Yes, a business has many components and a lot of them you will be implementing by yourself, especially if you are starting on a budget.
Most of the side hustlers out there are trying to make it look so easy and make it seem that the money will flow to you tomorrow.
It doesn’t work that way. I mean, in most cases it doesn’t.
Yes, I agree that a few people are in the right place, at the right time, and they become an overnight success literally. But that percentage of people is very small.
For common folks, it can take years to become an overnight success.
Take from this what you will.
But I will tell you this,
Watching endless videos on how to make money without implementing it will not get you anywhere.
Not just that, a lot of the advice is not great, and you really need to sift through the BS.
Granted, there are ways to make loads of money online, and there’s bound to be one that will do it for you.
Just don’t expect to be sitting on your arse, twiddling your thumbs, and the money will fall from the sky.
As some would happily try to persuade you about that.
Get-rich-quick schemes are a dime a dozen.
Start thinking long-term instead of a fast fix to your financial problems.
